Coffee in the United States is served by three kinds of places: national chains with drive-thrus and mobile ordering, independent neighborhood cafes that double as a workspace or a meeting spot, and specialty shops that roast their own beans or buy single-origin lots and brew them by pour-over, espresso or cold brew. Most open between 6 and 7 a.m. on weekdays, slightly later on weekends, and the busiest hour is the commute rush before 9. A drip coffee runs a few dollars, espresso drinks and specialty pours more, and tipping a dollar or a percentage on the card reader is customary but not required. Nearly every cafe offers free Wi-Fi, though some limit laptop seating at peak times or on weekends, and outlets are often the scarce resource.
Hours are published for 6 days a week. On most of those days it is open 8 am–5 pm. Note that it does not open on Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (919) 396-1936. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, notescoffeehouse.com.
Customers rate it 4.9 out of 5 on Google across 119 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded coffee shops in Apex.
Apex is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Apex is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across North Carolina's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

First time here today and has a great experience. The venue is well decorated, plenty of space within the auditorium when not in use and the staff were so nice and helpful. They recommended drinks for us that was the best cold brew I've had in a long time. Loved it here and will be back.

Best shaken espresso I’ve ever had! I usually will order my shaken espresso from Starbucks when I need a quick sweet treat with a shot of espresso, but decided to stop by Notes Coffee house after leaving the airport. I swear I finished my drink in one quick sitting; it was so good. The barista was super sweet and attentive as well. Sweet establishment, coffee made so intentionally. Wish I lived closer!

Cute little coffee spot in downtown Apex! Indoor + outdoor seating, fun menu with lattes, matcha, energy drinks, and bakery treats. I tried the “Purple Rain” latte—a mix of blackberry and lavender with coconut milk. Delicious, not too sweet, and topped with a chocolate-covered coffee bean for the perfect little kick. Coffee cake was soft and yummy. Service was great—the lady working there was so humble and kind. Docking a star since they close too early (5pm Monday–Thursday, 3pm Friday & Saturday, closed Sundays), so evening coffee lovers can’t enjoy this amazing place.

Amazing coffee and great place. It’s tucked away in a plaza, so there’s never a long line even during busy time on a Friday morning. The barista was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to speak with. It’s also not often that an employee talks up how great their boss/the owner is, so this is a very well-run establishment. The inside is cozy and clean, and there is a nice seating area outside. This is a great place to come for your coffee. Highly recommend.

Notes Coffee is a charming and cozy coffee shop located inside the Rock n Roll High School in Apex. There is indoor and outdoor seating available. It has a good selection of different coffee, hot tea, and iced tea. They have sugar free syrup options for the drinks. They also offer pastries including scones and cookies. The decor and some of the menu items are music themed. It's a really cute place and a must visit for music lovers.
